Luscious Lips!

A statement lip is the look to be seen in this Winter (those of you who watch The Great British Bake Off will have seen this year’s winner certainly loved a bold lip!), so here are some top tips on which shades to choose and how to make your lipstick last.

Shades of Red
A bright red is an iconic Hollywood look for a reason; it’s glamorous, sensuous and feminine. If you’re going for a strong lip shade though it’s best to keep the rest of your make-up pared back; neutral eyes, a little blush and then allow your lip colour to give the real WOW factor! If you have cool colouring, go for a red with a blue undertone, whereas if your colouring is warm an orangey-red will be more flattering.  If you prefer something a little more subtle, how about a pink or berry shade (cool) or a peach or coral shade (warm).
By the way,  Matt lipsticks have been all the rage recently but something with a little sheen is more flattering on most women as it makes lips look fuller and softer.

Long Lasting Lips
Keeping your lip colour in place all evening can be a challenge for some, but with the right applicationLushious Lips techniques and products, it needn’t be…
  1. Gently exfoliate your lips using a specially formulated lip scrub, or apply a blob of cleanser to a soft toothbrush and gently brush your lips.
  2. Apply a non-greasy lip balm to soothe and moisturise your lips.
  3. Apply a lip base to prime your lips, help your lipstick stay in place and reduce feathering – Colour Me Beautiful do a good one which also doubles up as an eye base for £10.75.
  4. Line and fill your lips in with a lip pencil.
  5. Apply your favourite lipstick, blot and re-apply.
  6. Split a tissue so that you have a single sheet, apply it flat across your lips and pat a little loose powder over the top to set your lipstick.
